I am Andreea Vlad, an artist, designer, and researcher, working at the intersection of visual arts, communication design, and food design. Born in Romania, based in Copenhagen, and shaped by experiences across Mexico, Spain, and beyond, my work explores food as a language—a tool for storytelling, sensory engagement, and critical discourse. I seek to challenge how we perceive, interact with, and assign meaning to the things we eat.

For as long as I can remember, I have balanced the disciplines of art and design, weaving them together through my continuous practice. On one side, I work with image-making, using drawing, mixed media, and performative techniques in my studio to explore materiality, movement, and narrative. On the other, I apply my graphic and visual design expertise in collaborations with businesses across industries, navigating the space between concept and communication.

A long-standing collaborator has been Radiometer - medical device company in Copenhagen, where I started as a graphic student assistant and, over the years, grew into the role of art director in the Marketing & Digital Communication Department (now on study leave while pursuing my MA in Food Design at Instituto Europeo di Design Bilbao). I take pride being part of a team and within a company that has the mission to put life first.

My experience spans both the art studio world and the corporate medical industry, as well as the design agency and technology sectors, making me a versatile creative—comfortable in conceptual, hands-on, and strategic roles.

Teaching and facilitating creative experiences have also been part of my practice. Through ARTXP Copenhagen, I have led drawing workshops, using experimental and intuitive approaches to guide participants in exploring expression, mark-making, and storytelling through lines and gestures.

Through critical and speculative design, I create immersive experiences that challenge how we engage with food, examining its historical, social, ecological, and emotional dimensions. My approach is both intellectual and sensory, questioning the narratives embedded in food culture while crafting material explorations and performative interactions.

I am also the founder of Rico Supper Club, an experimental dining and storytelling project where food becomes an artistic, educational, and performative medium—a space to plant seeds, open minds, spark appetites for new perspectives and have some fun along the way—joy is as important as any intellectual pursuits, I believe.

Food has always been present in my life, not just as sustenance but as a powerful artistic, critical, and political force. My connection to Mexico—through my partner and time spent there—has further expanded my perspective on food as history, identity, and ritual. Witnessing its ability to provoke, connect, and transform, I find that through creativity and strategic thinking, I can add my own mark and flavor to the world.
